The fall semester is here, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome both our new and returning undergraduate students to the University of Connecticut! Whether you are stepping into your first year or diving into your final stretch, we are thrilled to have you as part of our community.

This year promises to be full of opportunities for growth, learning, and connection. We encourage you to explore all that UConn has to offer, from engaging deeply with your coursework and collaborating with faculty on research projects, to participating in the wide variety of student organizations, clubs, and events that enrich your experience outside the classroom.

We believe that a strong sense of belonging and mutual respect is the foundation of our community. We want every person to feel valued, supported, and included as part of our diverse and dynamic campus life. Achieving this sense of belonging requires all of us to work together, looking out for one another and fostering an environment where everyone can thrive.

The university has worked to make improvements to our Student Code and important university policies with a focus on transparency and equity. These policies are referenced below, along with other important resources you may find helpful as you navigate through the year. The expectations outlined in these policies apply to the entire UConn community and are centered around establishing a conducive environment for your education, where we can engage in discourse with mutual respect for one another.

Let’s commit to supporting each other, embracing our differences, and contributing to a community where respect, empathy, and understanding are at the heart of everything we do.

Here’s to seizing every opportunity and making the most of all that this semester has to offer! Dive into your studies, engage with your community, show appreciation to the faculty and staff who help you along the way, and keep the UConn spirit vibrant and alive. Enjoy every moment, and let’s make this semester truly memorable together!

Go Huskies!

Resources

The Student Code & UConn Policies
The Student Code was updated over the past year, as were policies for Posting Signs, holding Outdoor Activities, and utilizing Amplified Sound. The updates primarily were done to lend clarity to policy, rather than establish new rules. If you are planning any gatherings, or posting signs, we strongly encourage you to consult with Student Activities, or your Campus Dean, and review these policies. All of this, and more, can be found at https://inform.uconn.edu.

Academic Advisors
Your Academic Advisor is your academic guide for your experience at UConn. The name of this person can be found in Student Admin.

Dean of Students & Student Services
The Dean of Students, or Student Services Offices at our campuses at Avery Point, Hartford, Stamford & Waterbury, are there to assist you in your time of need. Not only are they a listening ear for you, but they can put you in touch with the offices and teams that can assist you along your educational journey at UConn.

Student Health and Wellness (SHaW)
Our SHaW teams at Storrs, as well as at Avery Point, Hartford, Stamford and Waterbury, are here to assist you not only when you’re under the weather, but also when you’re feeling anxious, depressed or just need someone to talk to. Our team is equipped to assist you and can put you in touch with local health professionals.

Cultural Centers & Programs
Our Cultural Centers and Programs serve as vital resources in support of the social, behavioral, and cultural needs of all students. They offer educational programming, academic supports, and events that you can get involved in throughout the year. While physically located in Storrs, they support students across all our campuses.

UConn is a great university.

But it's more than that. A top-ranked Land and Sea Grant research institution, with campuses and staff across Connecticut, built to inspire the global community that is UConn Nation. UConn's talented students exceed expectations. Our expert researchers, faculty, and alumni drive Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (CIE) for a better tomorrow. We fuel the State's economy and are committed to inclusion with emotional intelligence in benefiting the greater good. This is UConn.
