The University provides need-based and merit scholarships to our students to reduce the financial barriers students face as they complete their college education in pursuit of their dreams. These awards are made possible through the generous support of donors to the UConn Foundation. Below are select scholarship funds prospective donors may consider to support our UConn Students. General Scholarship Fund
The General Scholarship Fund is designed to support the University’s $165M financial aid budget. The fund positions the University an avenue to support students facing unexpected financial strain as a result of a crisis or emergency.
Hartford Promise Emergency Grant (Husky-Hustle)
This fund is in exclusive support of Hartford Promise Scholars to assist them with emergency educational expenses. Recipients are identified in collaboration with the Hartford Promise Program.
New Haven Promise Emergency Grant
This fund is in exclusive support of New Haven Promise Scholars to assist them with emergency educational expenses. Recipients are identified in collaboration with the New Haven Promise Program.
Waterbury Promise Emergency Grant
This fund is in exclusive support of Waterbury Promise Scholars to assist them with emergency educational expenses. Recipients are identified in collaboration with the Waterbury Promise Program.
Day of Pride Scholarship
In addition to being one of UConn’s premier scholarships (like Nutmeg below), Day of Pride Scholarship recipients must demonstrate a commitment to diversity and multiculturalism, as well as have financial need. Limited to 20 recipients statewide.
Nutmeg Scholarship
The Nutmeg Scholarship is UConn’s premier, full merit-based scholarship. It is awarded to outstanding Connecticut secondary school seniors who demonstrate exceptional academic ability, have performed notable service to school and community, and possess the qualities of a good citizen and leader. Recipients must be Connecticut residents. Limited to 20 recipients statewide.
Stamps Scholarship
The Stamps Scholarship is a full cost-of-attendance scholarship renewable for four years undergraduate education. Recipients also receive a one-time enrichment award of $12,000 to be used to support research and experiential learning opportunities. The Stamps Scholarship Program and partner schools evenly share the cost of the scholarships.
Students First Fund
Students First Fund enables University community members to demonstrate to our students that they are an important and valuable part of our community. Through this fund, members of the University community will be able to request help for students after unforeseen misfortunes have occurred (e.g., fire, accident, illness). Funds may be used to pay expenses; to provide a student with assistance during a time of need (e.g. books; clothing; food) and/or other reasonable and typical expenses as would be appropriate in times of loss.
